Welcome to the website for the South Jersey Youth Outdoor Day. This totally FREE event is held annually on the third Saturday in August. Its purpose is to provide an opportunity for beginners to learn about and try out various outdoor sports without having to buy any of the equipment or supplies. No selling or solicitation is done at this event (except for organizations recruiting new members). The event is based in Salem County, but is open to youth from all of South Jersey. We encourage youths who have attended in previous years to allow other youths who have never been to this event to participate in it. Our next event will
be held
on Saturday, AUGUST 20, 2011 at
the
Salem County Sportsmen's Club in Carney's Point. The times of the
event are 8:30 am to 2:00 pm, with registrant check-in beginning at
8:00 am. This event is
open
to youths age 7 through 17. All youths must be accompanied by a
parent or guardian, who will be responsible for their
supervision. Participation
is limited to
the first 200
youths registered. You
must register in advance. No same-day registrations will be
accepted. ACTIVITIES Registering for the event: When the registration period begins on July 1, you can register for this event in either one of two ways: 1) Register via email by sending an email note with your information. Use the link on the lefthand portion of this screen to go to instructions for this process. Your information will be printed on a form and be brought to the event. You'll need to stop by the registration table at the start of the event to sign the printed copy of your form. 2) Register via US
mail by completing a paper
copy of the registration form and mailing it to the registration
coordinator.
Three versions of the form are available through links on the lefthand
portion of this screen. Paper copies of the form are also
available at some local tackle shops. Make sure you complete all
information requested,
sign the form and mail it to the address indicated on the form. You'll need to check
in at the registration table at the start of the event. Please note that
the main
event area will be fenced off in the morning, just beyond the
clubhouse. Paricipants are not be permitted in the fenced-in
area until the official 8:30 am start time. The registrant
check-in table and
range safety sessions will be located at the clubhouse. After
parking, you should proceed to the registrant check-in table and then
proceed into the clubhouse to the range safety session area. Upon
completion of a range safety session,
participants may proceed to the event entrance at the fenced in
area. At 8:30 am, participants will be permitted to enter the
main event area. We appreciate your cooperation with this process. Upon check-in at
the event registration table, each participant will receive an event
card with a lanyard. This card is to be worn from the
participant's neck. Participants should then proceed to the
range safety
session area and sit in on one of the several group sessions being
held. After completion of the range safety session, each
participant's card will be marked indicating completion. In
addition, after
the completion of certain
activities within the event (shooting sports, archery,
canoeing/kayaking), the card will be marked so we know who has done an
activity
at least once. Participants will not be
allowed to do these activities a second time if there are others in
line who have not yet done the activity. REMINDERS TRASH &
